OneDrive: Exclude specific folders from syncing

OneDrive will allow administrators to define folder exclusion rules, preventing specific local folders from syncing to the cloud. This helps reduce unnecessary cloud storage consumption and improves sync performance by keeping developer tooling and configuration folders local.

Action required: Review and configure folder exclusion rules for your organization to prevent unwanted folders (PowerShell modules, Visual Studio config, node modules) from syncing to OneDrive.

Microsoft's description

OneDrive for Windows and Mac will let users exclude specific folders from syncing, so folders that do not belong in the cloud, such as developer tooling folders like PowerShell modules, Visual Studio configuration, and node modules, stay local on the device instead of uploading to OneDrive. Administrators can define folder exclusion rules for their organization.
