Microsoft Purview: Data Lifecycle Management - Archive OneDrive and SharePoint files under retention
Microsoft Purview Data Lifecycle Management will support archiving actions in retention policies for SharePoint Online and OneDrive files. Admins can now configure retention policies to automatically archive inactive content to low-cost storage, reducing costs while maintaining compliance and discoverability.

With the introduction of file archiving support in SharePoint Online, administrators are looking to seamlessly include archiving actions within their existing data retention policies. This means that, in addition to keeping or deleting data, admins want to now leverage Purview DLM to archive files according to organizational requirements, ensuring comprehensive governance across all stages of the content lifecycle in SPO. Retention based file archiving moves inactive content to low-cost storage, lowering costs with no compromise on Compliance, keeping data discoverable and making Copilot results highly relevant.
